On the 8th November 2017 we contacted Interval International on the dedicated Marriott telephone number, shortly after we had returned from Lanzarote after staying at Club Tahiti. This resort is nowhere near the Marriott standard we expect or expected.

We contacted Interval and spoke to a Representative (Anna) and explained that the resort was very tired, aged, small accommodation and in an inconvenient location. She acknowledged this apologised and stated we should never have been offered this resort as it was certainly not anywhere close to Marriott standards in every regard. The apartment was described as accommodation for 6 people however the reality was it struggled to cater for 3 adults. The kitchen utensils where cheap and well used the curtains at the front of the apartment were filthy. No Wifi was available in the apartment as you had to sit around the pool area or in reception to receive a signal.

The Pool bar served snacks from what can only be described as a shed offering the guests white plastic furniture to sit at whilst eating should you ever contemplate eating there. The bar opened in the evenings boasting sunset views...this was so misleading as the view was hampered by the buildings immediately in front of the bar which obstruct the view and the bar offered much the same plastic white furniture to sit at certainly a one star experience. We suffered cockroaches in the bathrooms. The complex condition has been maintained very poorly with many examples of shoddy workmanship. We checked out two days prior to our departure date as we could not suffer the resort any longer.

We had requested a further week at another Canary Island resort for January 2018 but having explained to Intervals representative that we wanted Marriott standards as that is what we purchased she advised that we remove our requests for both JSO and Barcelo resorts as these should not be recommended by Marriott on this dedicated telephone line. So our options where to continue with the request or extend the period and choose a Marriott only resort. We decided to extend the our usage at a cost of ยฃ115.00 in order to spend time looking elsewhere

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $1500.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Good luck finding a Marriott type of resort after your extension. You have limited time to call and get reservations then I can almost guarantee you that there will NOT be ANY resorts available.

Sad that Marriott does business with Interval. We had our timeshare since the late 90's, it has been a complete hassle with Interval. We finally sold our timeshare weeks back to Marriott for a penny on the dollar we spent. The times that we successfully used Interval, we did get some nice resorts however over the last few years, the quality and availability has declined.

We spent a lot of money for the timeshare then when the annual fees tripled, it was just way too much of a financial burden. Just a waste of time and too much frustration!
